Henry Aldridge & Son will offer items from the Skidmore collection at its May 18 sale – including these pieces of late 19th century Chinese ‘export’ silver.

Thomas Skidmore was the chief engineer of British American Tobacco from 1900-35 and was responsible for inventing the single cigarette cutting machine.

Aldridge sold part of the collection last year at the auction house in Devizes, Wiltshire, and now further items have been consigned.
