Choice first edition of James Joyce’s ‘Ulysses’ carries high hopes at Hindman Auctions

Hindman Auctions will be selling a Midwestern collector’s ensemble of rare books in an 85 lot auction in Chicago on November 5.

First edition works by authors as varied as Euclid, Charles Darwin, Galileo and JK Rowling will feature. Among them is this first edition of James Joyce’s Ulysses, published in Paris in 1922 by Shakespeare and Company.

It is a limited issue copy, number 74 of 100 on Dutch handmade paper comes with the original publisher’s ‘Greek Flag’ blue wrapper in a cloth slipcase and is signed by the author on the limitation page.

The estimate is $120,000-180,000.
