Vintage Italian magic items in an American auction

This second edition, 1854, copy of Bartolomeo Bosco’s 'Gabinetto Magico… (ossia il Complesso dell’Arte di Presigio)' is estimated at $300-400 in the December 14 Potter & Potter Magic auction.''

A selection of books relating to conjuring dating back to the 17th century is one of the features of the latest Potter & Potter Magic sale to be held on December 14 in Chicago.

It includes books from the library of Giovanni Pasqua, who founded the Circolo Amici della Magia di Torino in 1971 and maintained a lifelong interest in prestidigitation.

Pictured above is a second edition, 1854, copy of Bartolomeo Bosco’s Gabinetto Magico… (ossia il Complesso dell’Arte di Presigio) which was published in Milan by Giovanni Silvestri.

The frontispiece depicts Bosco and it also contains a folding plate illustrating conjuring apparatus.

The estimate is $300-400.
