This early 18th century Louis XIV French table clock is part of a selection of 19 early European timekeepers that feature in Heritage Auctions’ fine and decorative arts sale in Dallas on March 8-10.

It stands 2ft 1in (65cm) high, is mounted with gilt brass and inlaid with boulle marquetry and is signed Dumount A Besançon to the enamelled and gilt bronze face and Les Freres Dumont A Besançon to the backplace.
The clock features a verge escapement, a silk suspended pendulum and an outside countwheel for a bell striking on the hour and half hour. It has an estimate of $7000-10,000.
