At Donnington Priory on May 23, Dreweatts will hold a sale of Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art where this 17th or 18th century bronze ‘dragon’ censer and original stand, with Xuande four-character mark, is pitched at £8000-12,000.

Unusually large at just under 12in (29cm) across, and with a well-preserved patina, Dreweatts believes it would have been displayed in the study room of a Qing imperial family member.
It comes with provenance, coming by family descent to the current owner from HG Lowder, who worked for the Chinese Customs Service in the 1920s.
